Basketball Game Preview: Wakeland Wolverines vs. Highland Park Scots

The Wakeland Wolverines will square off against the Highland Park Scots at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Wakeland comes in on six and Highland Park on nine.

On Tuesday, Wakeland really took it to Newman Smith for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-39 victory. The Wolverines have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Highland Park took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 58-13 win over Turner. Given the Scots' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Lions are ranked 1297th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Highland Park is also on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Wakeland, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-5.

Wakeland skirted past Highland Park 56-53 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wakeland since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
