Soccer Recap: Groton Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Groton and Southern Cayuga squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Groton had to settle for second. They lost 4-0 to the Chiefs. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against Southern Cayuga this season, with their most recent loss being a 6-0 defeat two weeks ago.

Groton dropped their record down to 6-10-1 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Southern Cayuga, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Groton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southern Cayuga, they will head out on the road to face off against Marathon at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Marathon's defense has only allowed 0.1 goals per game this season, so Southern Cayuga's offense will have their work cut out for them.
