Preview: Simon Gratz Bulldogs vs. George Washington Eagles
The Simon Gratz Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the George Washington Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Simon Gratz has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 459 points over their last seven matches.
Last Tuesday, Simon Gratz strolled past Paul Robeson with points to spare, taking the game 68-52.
It was another big night for Jabrelle Dennison, who scored 39 points. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Sihaaj Johnson, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, George Washington had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 58-50 victory over Central on Tuesday. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 15 more assists than your opponent, as George Washington did.
Anderson Dorvil continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of George Washington's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Berry, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Simon Gratz pushed their record up to 11-5 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for George Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Simon Gratz came up short against George Washington in their previous meeting back in January of 2018, falling 59-54. Can Simon Gratz avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
