Softball Game Preview: Maxwell Panthers vs. Quincy Trojans

The Maxwell Panthers are taking a road trip to take on the Quincy Trojans at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Maxwell has given up an average of 13.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Maxwell came up short against CORE Butte two weeks ago, falling 16-2. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Quincy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They blew past the Tigers 20-4. The Trojans' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jemma Trueblood made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one home run and five RBI. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jenna Peay was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with five RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brooke Blesse, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

Quincy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Maxwell's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Quincy, their record is now 16-4.

Everything went Maxwell's way against Quincy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Maxwell made off with a 13-5 victory. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
