Baseball Game Preview: Waltham Hawks vs. Bedford Buccaneers

The Waltham Hawks will head out on the road to challenge the Bedford Buccaneers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Waltham will be strutting in after a win while Bedford will be coming in after a defeat.

Waltham will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Lincoln-Sudbury, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Hawks walked away with a 10-5 victory over the Warriors on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Bedford's offense. They came up short against Acton-Boxborough last Thursday, falling 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Buccaneers have suffered against the Revolution since April 25, 2016.

Waltham has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Bedford, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4-1.

Waltham was able to grind out a solid victory over Bedford in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
