Recap: Chaparral Wolverines vs. Mountain Vista Golden Eagles

After losing to the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles the last time they met, the Chaparral Wolverines decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Chaparral came out on top against Mountain Vista by a score of 62-50 on Friday. Given Chaparral's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Mountain Vista is ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Perhaps the best among them was Reagan Lentell, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lentell has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Lauren Thompson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Chaparral is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Mountain Vista, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chaparral will challenge Douglas County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant against one another: Sofia Baldessari and Thompson. Mountain Vista will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Regis Jesuit at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. One thing working in Regis Jesuit's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matchups.
