Baseball Recap: Timber Creek Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Timber Creek can now relate to. They fell just short of the Creekside Knights by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Wolves were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 5-2.

Gavin Brown was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Brown was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Brown wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Sebastian Hurtado, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Timber Creek has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 19-11 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Creekside, their win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-11.

As of now, neither Timber Creek nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
