Baseball Game Preview: Alleghany Trojans vs. North Stokes Vikings

Alleghany is 1-9 against North Stokes since February of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Alleghany will look to defend their home field against North Stokes at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Alleghany is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Saturday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of Maplewood. That's two games in a row now that the Trojans have lost by exactly two runs.

Garrett Higgins made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of William Billings, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, North Stokes unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of East Surry by a score of 3-2.

North Stokes' defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Alleghany, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Alleghany couldn't quite get it done against North Stokes in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 10-6. Can Alleghany avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
