Lucas had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the South Central Trojans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cubs have posted since May 6, 2024.

Jack DiBartolomeo made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. DiBartolomeo was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

DiBartolomeo wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Will Whitesel, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Lucas now has a winning record of 3-2. As for South Central, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Lucas will venture away from home to square off against Mansfield Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for South Central, they will welcome Northwestern at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
