Softball Game Preview: Timberlane Owls vs. Londonderry Lancers

The Timberlane Owls will head out on the road to face off against the Londonderry Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Winnacunnet hit Timberlane with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Owls took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. The loss was the Owls' first of the season.

Lilly Grosky was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrina Cordeiro, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, on Friday Londonderry's undefeated season almost came to an end. They never let Portsmouth get on the board and left with a 2-0 win.

Not much got past Elizabeth Kearney, who gave up just a hit and racked up 17 Ks to keep Portsmouth off the board. Kearney has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Londonderry saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sadie Moore, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Having lost for the first time this season, Timberlane fell to 3-1. As for Londonderry, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0-1.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Timberlane hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Londonderry struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Timberlane couldn't quite finish off Londonderry in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Owls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
