Baseball Recap: Nicholas Carney's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lake Worth over Desoto

Lake Worth's tournament run continued when they took on DeSoto on Saturday. The Lake Worth Bullfrogs wound up with the same score they had in their last game (8-4), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Xavier Avila was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Avila wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nicholas Carney, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Lake Worth has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5-2 record this season. With the victory, DeSoto broke their 13-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-2.

Lake Worth has already played their next game, a 14-1 loss against Seguin on the 1st. As for DeSoto, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-4 defeat against Poteet on the 6th.
