Basketball Recap: Roaring Fork Falls Despite Big Games from Nikki Tardif and Riley Bevington

Roaring Fork suffered their closest defeat since February 24, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Cedaredge Bruins by a score of 40-37. The match marked the Rams' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Roaring Fork's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Riley Bevington, who to rack up 22 points and eight boards, and Nikki Tardif, who posted eight points and 11 rebounds. Bevington is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 18 games she's played.

Even though they lost, Roaring Fork smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Cedaredge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Carley Malinowski out in front who on her way to 21 points and six rebounds. What's more, Malinowski also posted a 62% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addie Hanson, who had seven points and seven boards.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 19-2. As for Cedaredge, the win keeps them at an undefeated 19-0.

Looking ahead, Roaring Fork will face off against Grand Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cedaredge, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-33 victory against Battle Mountain on the 22nd.
