Soccer Game Preview: Riverdale vs. Gulf Coast

Riverdale is 1-8-1 against Gulf Coast since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Riverdale Raiders will face off against the Gulf Coast Sharks at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Riverdale's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They beat North Fort Myers by a goal, winning 1-0. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Raiders were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Gulf Coast was able to grind out a solid win over Estero on Tuesday, taking the game 2-0.

Marco Zamora and David Velez scored both of Gulf Coast's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

The victory got Gulf Coast back to even at 7-7-2. As for Riverdale, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7-3.

Riverdale suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Gulf Coast in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Riverdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
