Softball Recap: Encina Bulldogs vs. Buckingham Charter Knights

Encina extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 15 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-7. They lost 18-2 to the Buckingham Charter Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 26-2 on Monday.

As for Buckingham Charter, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games.

For Buckingham Charter's part, Isabella Ebert made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Ebert was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.4 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Gianna Baligod was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Sylvandra Morphis, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three RBI.
