Recap: Poinciana Eagles vs. Liberty Chargers
There's no place like home for the Poinciana Eagles, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 63-37 margin over Liberty. Given Poinciana's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Liberty is ranked 557th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Poinciana to victory, but perhaps none more so than Devin Williams , who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The contest was Williams 's third in a row with at least ten points. Hakeem Alvena was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Poinciana's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Liberty, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Poinciana will take on Celebration at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Celebration focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday. As for Liberty, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Mater Brighton Lakes Academy at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Mater Brighton Lakes Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
