The Ashe County Huskies will challenge the Watauga Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ashe County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Ashe County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against South Caldwell on Friday. They lost 11-1 to the Spartans. The Huskies have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Ashe County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Sheets, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Even though they lost, Ashe County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Watauga had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Freedom by a score of 14-11 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pioneers considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Ashe County's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Watauga, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-8.

Ashe County suffered a grim 19-1 defeat to Watauga in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Ashe County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
