Basketball Recap: Adams Central Takes a Loss

Adams Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 53-45 to the Kearney Catholic Stars. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Stars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Kearney Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Payton Dzingle, who posted seven points along with six boards and five assists. Dzingle has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Rylie O'Hare, who went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points.

Adams Central's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Kearney Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season.

Adams Central and Kearney Catholic could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. Adams Central will challenge Minden at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 131 places (140 vs. 9). Meanwhile, Kearney Catholic (ranked 121st) will meet Scotus (ranked 16th) at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
