Softball Game Preview: Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars vs. Immaculate Mustangs

The Kolbe-Cathedral Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Immaculate Mustangs at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Kolbe-Cathedral has given up an average of 12 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Kolbe-Cathedral challenged Brookfield on Monday. The Cougars lost 16-0 to the Bobcats. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Meanwhile, Immaculate waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Red Devils. Considering the Mustangs have won seven contests by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Immaculate's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Kolbe-Cathedral, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Kolbe-Cathedral suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Immaculate in their previous matchup back in May of 2023. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
