Baseball Recap: Ballston Spa Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Ballston Spa barely beat Chatham the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Scotties put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 16-5 victory on Thursday. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Scotties this season.

Thomas Driver looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, James Haughton was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Hill, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Ballston Spa hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chatham struck out seven times.

Ballston Spa's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Chatham, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-4.

Looking ahead, Ballston Spa will square off against Guilderland at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Chatham, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-5 win against Catskill on the 2nd.
