Basketball Game Preview: Florence Christian Eagles vs. Christian Academy Saints

Florence Christian hasn't had much luck against Christian Academy recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Florence Christian Eagles will take on the Christian Academy Saints at 7:45 p.m. Florence Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season.

Florence Christian will head into Monday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 20-point drubbing they dealt Faith Christian on Monday. Florence Christian was the clear victor by a 69-49 margin over Faith Christian. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Eagles have posted since November 19, 2024.

Florence Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Riley Minton, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 20 points and four steals. Those 20 points gave Minton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Greene, who went 8 of 11 on his way to 20 points and five assists.

Florence Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Faith Christian only racked up six assists.

Meanwhile, Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 51-45 heartbreaker at the hands of Northmont. That's two games in a row now that the Saints have lost by exactly six points.

The victory got Florence Christian back to even at 6-6. As for Christian Academy, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-5.

Florence Christian came up short against Christian Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 56-43. Can Florence Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
