Softball Recap: Dothan Takes a Loss

Dothan's tournament run continued when they took on Oak Mountain on Friday. The Wolves came up short against the Eagles, falling 7-1. The Wolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Dothan got a good showing from Brantlee McCarthy, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. McCarthy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dothan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jada Newman, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Dothan's defeat dropped their record down to 17-17-1. As for Oak Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-16 record this season.

Dothan will be taking part in a tournament against Curry at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Yellowjackets' pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so the Wolves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Oak Mountain, they will challenge Ardmore at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
