Basketball Game Preview: Leggett Pirates vs. Goodrich Hornets

The Leggett Pirates will face off against the Goodrich Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Leggett will bounce into Friday's game after beating Spurger, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Leggett was the clear victor by a 53-27 margin over Spurger on Tuesday. Leggett pushed the score to 43-15 by the end of the third, a deficit Spurger cut but never quite recovered from.

Leggett's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tamera Henderson, who posted 18 points in addition to five steals and four blocks. That's the most blocks Henderson has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Bianca Perkins, who had 20 points along with eight assists and five boards.

Leggett smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Goodrich fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They walked away with a 36-26 victory over Burkeville on Tuesday.

Leggett has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-13 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.1 points per game. As for Goodrich, their win bumped their record up to 8-14.

Everything came up roses for Leggett against Goodrich in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 67-12 victory. Does Leggett have another victory up their sleeve, or will Goodrich turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
