Leake Central and Kosciusko are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Gators will head out on the road to face off against the Whippets at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Leake Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten contests -- so hopefully Kosciusko likes a good challenge.

Leake Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 86-65 margin over Clinton on Tuesday. The Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Kosciusko over Newton County in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Whippets blew the Cougars out of the water with a 100-65 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Whippets had established a 26-point advantage.

Kosciusko's win came from a few key players Leake Central will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cory Guyton Jr, who shot 62% from the field to rack up 25 points. His big performance that evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. Jaybre Pierce was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds.

Kosciusko smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Leake Central has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points over those games. As for Kosciusko, their record now sits at 8-1.

Leake Central and Kosciusko were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but Leake Central came up empty-handed after a 62-61 defeat. Can the Gators avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
