Baseball Recap: La Center Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

It's playoff time, and La Center had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Colville Crimson Hawks 5-4. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Crimson Hawks on Saturday, too.

Gunnar Schockelt was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Justin Fuller was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April.

La Center's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Colville, they moved to 12-12 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

La Center has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Cashmere on the 24th. Colville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
