Basketball Recap: Goodwin Tech Comes Up Short

After flying high against Wolcott RVT last Thursday, Goodwin Tech came back down to earth. The Goodwin Tech Gladiators took a hard 81-63 fall against the Bullard-Havens Tigers on Thursday. The Gladiators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.

When it comes to explaining why Goodwin Tech lost, don't look at Nazir Russell. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-7 from beyond the arc to rack up 30 points and five boards. The contest was Russell's 17th in a row with at least 17 points. Amare Robinson was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Even though they lost, Goodwin Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Goodwin Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Bullard-Havens, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season.

Goodwin Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Bullard-Havens has already played their next contest (against Goodwin RVT), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
