Recap: Overton Mustangs vs. Carlisle Indians
The Overton Mustangs were the 38-33 winner over the Carlisle Indians when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Overton took a 36-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carlisle on Friday. That's two games in a row now that Overton has lost by exactly eight points.
Despite the defeat, Overton had strong showings from Kayla Nobles, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and two steals, and Catherine Delane, who scored five points along with eight rebounds. Nobles has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 16 times she's played.
This is the second loss in a row for Overton and nudges their season record down to 10-11. As for Carlisle, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-11.
Overton will head out on the road to square off against New Summerfield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. New Summerfield comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Carlisle, they will be playing at home against Douglass at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Douglass presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Carlisle in Texas (Douglass is ranked 254th, while Carlisle is ranked 1259th).
