Basketball Recap: JAHYLA DUBOSE's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Quitman over Wayne County

Quitman was the 60-25 winner over Wayne County when they last played one another back in November, but their luck changed this time around. The Quitman Panthers fell just short of the Wayne County War Eagles by a score of 41-38 on Friday. The Panthers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Quitman's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JAHYLA DUBOSE, who posted seven points in addition to six boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of RAYNESHA EVANS-BONNER, who put up four points along with eight rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Quitman smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in eight consecutive matches.

Quitman's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Wayne County, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Quitman didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-40 loss against Laurel on the 17th. As for Wayne County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 52-19 win against East Central on the 17th.
