Basketball Recap: Clayton Comets vs. Calvary Day School Cougars
Clayton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Calvary Day School Cougars, falling 83-54.
Loss or not, Clayton got some senior leadership from Jayden Gray and Khaleil Walters. Gray shot 40% from the field to rack up 24 points and six rebounds, while Walters went 6-for-12 on his way to 16 points and six boards. Jalen Holmes was another key player, putting up two points and three steals.
Calvary Day School had a senior duo take command as Owen Calvert posted 26 points and three steals and Luca Sarnowska had 22 points. The game was Calvert's 22nd in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Autry, who scored 11 points and eight rebounds.
Clayton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Calvary Day School, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Clayton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 49-39 victory against East Wake on the 25th. As for Calvary Day School, they have also already played their next contest, a 92-48 loss against Concord Academy on the 24th.
