Volleyball Recap: Washington Township Gets the Win

Washington Township lost to Wheeler back in August of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Senators came out on top against the Bearcats by a score of 3-1.

Washington Township had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 26-24, 25-21, 25-18.

Washington Township can attribute much of their success to Yancey Scott, who had 13 digs and three aces. That's the most digs Scott has posted over her last six matches. Gina Czajkowski also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Washington Township was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Wheeler lost, don't look at Laylah McNamara. Despite the final result, she had ten digs and four assists.

Washington Township now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Wheeler, they dropped their record down to 5-2 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Washington Township has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against DeMotte Christian on the 28th. As for Wheeler, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Gary West Side on the 27th.
