Recap: Berrien Rebels vs. Cook Hornets

The Berrien Rebels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their 17th straight loss. They were dealt a 59-32 defeat at the hands of Cook. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Berrien in their matchups with Cook: they've now lost five in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cook to victory, but perhaps none more so than Chavious Hobbs, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Hobbs has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Reshauld Tippins, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.

Berrien's loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-19. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Cook, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-10.

Berrien will head out on the road to challenge Fitzgerald at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cook, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Brooks County at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Brooks County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 last Friday.
