Baseball Game Preview: Dinwiddie Generals vs. Clover Hill Cavaliers

The Dinwiddie Generals will venture away from home to face off against the Clover Hill Cavaliers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Dinwiddie comes in on four and Clover Hill on eight.

On Thursday, Dinwiddie was able to grind out a solid victory over Colonial Heights, taking the game 8-3.

Clover Hill came out on top against L.C. Bird on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run first inning. The Cavaliers were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Skyhawks. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cavaliers considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

James Nigriny made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Nigriny was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carter Burcume was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Carson Hupp was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Dinwiddie's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Clover Hill, their record now sits at 14-4.
