The Freedom Patriots will face off against the Pocono Mountain East Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Freedom hadn't beaten Parkland on the road since May 30, 2018 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. Freedom came out on top against Parkland by a score of 6-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.
Freedom got a great performance from Chase Walker as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Ryan Kullman was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Santiago Rodriguez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Pocono Mountain East put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 17-14 win over Stroudsburg. The Cardinals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Camryn Sopko made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Justin Williams and Devon Jackson did most of the damage at the plate: Williams scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Jackson went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave Jackson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Triano, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Pocono Mountain East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Pocono Mountain East pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Freedom, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Freedom came out on top in a nail-biter against Pocono Mountain East in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will Freedom repeat their success, or does Pocono Mountain East has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
