Softball Recap: Renaissance Takes a Loss

Dearborn hit Renaissance with a four-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Phoenix took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pioneers. The Phoenix were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Pioneers earlier this season, when they won 13-7.

Renaissance got a massive performance out of Kyle Hanks, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jayanah Branch, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Renaissance's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Dearborn, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-15-2 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Renaissance will face off against Bloomfield Hills at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Dearborn, they will challenge Churchill at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chargers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Pioneers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
