Game recap: Monrovia High School Football Team defeats Sierra Canyon

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - After five lead changes, Monrovia (Calif.) took the lead for good when Blake Heyworth thew a touchdown to Anthony Craft with 2:00 left in the second quarter and held on to defeat Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, Calif.) 42-31 on Saturday.

The Wildcats were up 21-17 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Heyworth to Craft in the second quarter.

Monrovia expanded its lead to 11 points entering the fourth quarter. MHS scored two times in the third, including once on a George Frazier touchdown run.

The Wildcats' most effective player was Frazier. The senior ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.

Andre Nunez made a difference for the Trailblazers. The junior quarterback threw three touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to eight on the year.



Sierra Canyon came in surrendering 12.9 points per game this season. SC struggled against Monrovia, which came in averaging 40.1 points per game.

The loss comes after Sierra Canyon defeated Arroyo 28-20 last week. The loss snapped the Chatsworth school's 2-game winning streak.

The Trailblazers (11-2) faces off against Monrovia in a playoff game their next time out. The Wildcats enter the contest having posted a 10-2.
