Basketball Game Preview: Delta Eagles vs. Blackford Bruins

The Delta Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Blackford Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Delta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.6 points per game this season.

Delta will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Greenfield-Central, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. Delta came out on top against Greenfield-Central by a score of 63-54 back in December of 2024. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Delta got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jillian Barr out in front who went 9 of 15 en route to 22 points along with seven boards and six steals. Barr has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffyn Knight, who posted 14 points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Meanwhile, Blackford can finally bid farewell to their 14-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They welcomed the New Year with a 23-19 victory over Blue River Valley.

Delta is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Blackford, their win ended an eight-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-15.

Delta came up short against Blackford when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 53-40. Can Delta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
