Softball Recap: Taft Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Taft was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Payton College Prep on Wednesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Grizzlies with a sharp 15-0 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Taft got a massive performance out of Mia Perez, who went 1-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those five RBI gave Perez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michaela Power, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Taft always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Payton College Prep only posted an OBP of .143.

Taft's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Payton College Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Taft wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 12-2 defeat against Lane Tech on the 17th. As for Payton College Prep, they have also already played their next game, a 9-6 win against ITW David Speer Academy on the 17th.
