Volleyball Recap: Mount Airy Granite Bears vs. Surry Central Golden Eagles
Mount Airy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Surry Central Golden Eagles, falling 3-0. The Granite Bears were not able to make up for their defeat to the Golden Eagles from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.
Surry Central was led to victory by Kenzie Hooker and Stella Wall. Hooker had 23 assists and ten digs, while Wall had 18 digs and two aces. Hooker has been hot, having posted 16 or more assists the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Caroline Scott, who had 14 digs.
Mount Airy now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Surry Central, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-4.
Mount Airy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against South Stokes on the 20th. As for Surry Central, they will square off against North Surry at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
