Baseball Game Preview: Lanier Voks vs. Burbank Bulldogs

Lanier hasn't had much luck against Burbank recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Voks will host the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. Lanier has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lanier is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Edison, falling 12-0.

Meanwhile, Burbank got themselves on the board against Sam Houston on Tuesday, but Sam Houston never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Hurricanes with a sharp 12-0 win. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by eight runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Roman Garcia, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brandon Herrera, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Burbank always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .621. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Burbank has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lanier, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12-1.
