Baseball Game Preview: Combs Coyotes vs. Florence Gophers

The Combs Coyotes will challenge the Florence Gophers at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Combs is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Combs fell victim to ALA - Queen Creek and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 13-0 to the Patriots. That's two games in a row now that the Coyotes have lost by exactly 13 runs.

Combs saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Coleman Biasi, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Florence also failed to score in their most recent game. They fell 3-0 to Seton Catholic on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Gophers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Combs' loss dropped their record down to 3-10-1. As for Florence, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Combs has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Florence struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Combs came out on top in a nail-biter against Florence in their previous meeting back in April of 2018, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Coyotes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gophers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
