Preview: Penns Grove Red Devils vs. Vineland Fighting Clan
The Penns Grove Red Devils will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Vineland Fighting Clan at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Penns Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Penns Grove came up short against Cherokee and fell 45-38. While losing is never fun, Penns Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Cherokee is ranked 124th).
Despite their defeat, Penns Grove saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Giomar Conrad, who scored ten points, was perhaps the best of all. The game was Conrad's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ka'Ron Ceaser, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Vineland lost to Millville at home by a decisive 70-53 margin on Friday.
Penns Grove now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Vineland, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
Penns Grove strolled past Vineland when the teams last played back in February of 2016 by a score of 74-57. Does Penns Grove have another victory up their sleeve, or will Vineland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
