Football Recap: Mac Nelson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mary Persons over Whitewater + How To Watch

Mary Persons lost against Whitewater back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bulldogs took a 51-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The Bulldogs gained 239 more yards on the day, but it was the Wildcats that made the best use of them.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mac Nelson, who threw for 373 yards and four TDs while picking up 13.8 yards per attempt. Nelson's passing game has become a key predictor of Mary Persons' success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise. The Bulldogs also got a significant boost from CJ Banks, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 154 yards.

Mary Persons has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Whitewater, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Mary Persons does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Whitewater, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Jenkins at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least 31 points in their last nine matchups.
