Basketball Recap: Independent Takes a Loss

Independent was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 85-21 loss at the hands of the Cheney Cardinals. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while the Cardinals are ranked 37th).

Independent's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Cheney, they pushed their record up to 6-0-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Independent Panthers take on the Conway Springs Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Conway Springs will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Independent surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cheney, they will head out on the road to face off against Dodge City at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cheney has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
