Softball Recap: Lakeland Takes a Loss

Lakeland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against the Kecoughtan Warriors, falling 16-4. The Cavaliers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2018.

Lakeland's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Kecoughtan, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland will host Nansemond River at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Kecoughtan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Denbigh at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.81 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
