Basketball Recap: Indian Rocks Christian Victorious

If Canterbury wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Indian Rocks Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Malia Stevens. Everything went the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles' way against the Canterbury Crusaders on Thursday as the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles made off with a 53-27 win thanks in part to Stevens, who went 8 for 16 on her way to 25 points. The game was her third in a row with at least ten points.

Makayla Kennedy was another key player, putting up four points along with nine boards and five steals. Those nine boards gave her a new career-high.

Indian Rocks Christian's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Canterbury, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Indian Rocks Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Northside Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Northside Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.9 points per game this season. As for Canterbury, they will venture away from home to face off against Sarasota Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Canterbury is facing Sarasota Christian at the right time seeing as Sarasota Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
