Softball Recap: Fairlawn's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

After low-scoring totals in their previous five contests, Fairlawn brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over the Northridge Polar Bears on Monday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Jets as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Gracie Crosson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Daisey Vondenhuevel was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lani Clemons, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Fairlawn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Fairlawn's victory bumped their record up to 3-6.

Coming up, Fairlawn will venture away from home to face off against Russia at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northridge, they will challenge Milton-Union at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Polar Bears' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
