Baseball Recap: Santa Teresa Has No Trouble Against Grants

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Santa Teresa walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Grants Pirates on Saturday. Considering the Desert Warriors have won 16 matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Ardon Luna made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off eight hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Santa Teresa got a massive performance out of Jackson Simpson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Simpson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jose Romo, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

Santa Teresa was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Santa Teresa's record is now 19-8. As for Grants, their loss dropped their record down to 17-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Pirates beat Santa Teresa by a score of 7-6 later that day.
