Baseball Game Preview: Clinton Red Tornadoes vs. Apache Warriors

The Clinton Red Tornadoes will square off against the Apache Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Clinton easily dispatched Altus on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Red Tornadoes fell just short of Fairview by a score of 6-4 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Red Tornadoes have suffered since April 18, 2024.

Easten Powell was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Apache was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 9-0 to Mountain View-Gotebo.

Clinton has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Apache, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Clinton took their victory against Apache when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 15-0 score. Do the Red Tornadoes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
