Baseball Recap: Stanton Takes a Loss

If Stanton was riding high fresh off their 23-1 takedown of Ribault last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Stanton took an 11-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Yulee Hornets on Wednesday. The Blue Devils were not able to make up for their loss to the Hornets from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

Stanton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jose Figueroa, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was William Spellman, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Stanton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Yulee, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stanton will venture away from home to square off against Orange Park at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Yulee, they will head out to face off against Paxon School For Advanced Studies at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
