Softball Recap: Buckley's Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Buckley dropped their record down to 11-5 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Elk Rapids Elks, falling 9-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Bears were not able to get on the board.

As for Elk Rapids, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 21 of their last 23 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Elk Rapids' part, Jillian Moazeni was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Moazeni has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Ashley McCann and Brooke Fluty did most of the damage at the plate: McCann went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Fluty went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That's the most doubles McCann has posted since back in April of 2024. Coraline Rainey was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs.

While Buckley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
