Volleyball Recap: Hillsborough Baptist Takes a Loss

Hillsborough Baptist was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Excel Christian Academy Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 last Tuesday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-9, 25-18.

Excel Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Karlene Fernandez, who had five aces. Fernandez is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last nine games she's played.

Hillsborough Baptist's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Excel Christian Academy, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Hillsborough Baptist will head out to challenge American Youth Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Excel Christian Academy, they will take on Geneva Classical Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
